Peter Schiff in Wall Street Journal

It would be irresponsible in the extreme for an individual to forestall a personal recession by taking out newer, bigger loans when the old loans can't be repaid. However, this is precisely what we are planning on a national level.

I believe these ideas hold sway largely because they promise happy, pain-free solutions. They are the economic equivalent of miracle weight-loss programs that require no dieting or exercise. The theories permit economists to claim mystic wisdom, governments to pretend that they have the power to dispel hardship with the whir of a printing press, and voters to believe that they can have recovery without sacrifice.

As a follower of the Austrian School of economics I believe that market forces apply equally to people and nations. The problems we face collectively are no different from those we face individually. Belt tightening is required by all, including government.

Governments cannot create but merely redirect. When the government spends, the money has to come from somewhere. If the government doesn't have a surplus, then it must come from taxes. If taxes don't go up, then it must come from increased borrowing. If lenders won't lend, then it must come from the printing press, which is where all these bailouts are headed. But each additional dollar printed diminishes the value those already in circulation. Something cannot be effortlessly created from nothing.

Contemporary currency warfare

This is as good a time as any to start the thread because a lot of angry Washingtonians are worried sick about the economy and are trying to scapegoat or say "Shalom" to Shalom Bernanke.

As you might have known, Ben Shalom Bernanke is of course the current Chairman of the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve. His official title also included Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisers (CEA). In October of 2005, Bush appointed Bernanke to fill Alan Greenspan's shoes. In retrospect, the unlucky fellow had in fact been earmarked by Greenspan to hold the bag for him just before the economic indicators nosedived.

Poor Bernanke. He should have been born a Chinese and not a Jew, thereby gaining more glory for himself riding on the crest of an economic boom on the far side of the Pacific Ocean.

One of my six degrees happens to be in finance, and one thing I have noticed about financiers is that they don't have any idea where the economy is headed.

The brightest and ablest financiers usually miss the easiest economic indicators and bet on the wrong horse, making it necessary for equally ineffective rearguard action and remedial measures to prevent the economy from spinning out of control.

It is a hot topic these days because many people know a lot about hot warfare involving weapons and casualties, but nearly not enough about how a few financial handlers in this increasingly interdependent world of ours can negate the hard work and the sacrifice of a large segment of the population.

In order to prevent what happened to a French bank recently and to a British bank several years ago, we have to learn how the world's financial centers work.

There can be only one fulcrum in a see-saw machine.
Similarly, there can be only one leverage point in a global financial system.
That point is no longer the U.S.

Right now it is still enjoying the advantage of experience. But it is like a 45-year old man playing basketball with a 13 year-old who's already six feet tall.

The 45-year old may still win the game because of his experience, but the future in a few short years simply cannot be his.

China is a role model to all developing nations

China is a role model to all developing nations around the globe.
After centuries of oppression and domination by western nations, most developing nations are trying to pull their nations up from poverty. They look at China's rapid progress as an example.
China also give aid and technical help to these nations and have formed many bilateral relations for the benefit of everyone.
However, it is not only the developing nations that benefit from China. The developed nations benefit as well.
Recently, China has helped to arbitrate between the US and North Korea. There are also many more examples too numerous to mention.

she acts not only as a role model but also she focuses more on business development. Just like Great xiao ping said, we must put full energy in business establishing as our key task. So do business, do relationship firstly...

China is improving the lives of so many who live in Africa.
It seems to me that the this sleeping tiger has woken up and is trying to improve life not only for her own but others as well.
She is not going into countries with arms to destroy the people and their livelihoods.

leave or stay in big city?

work in a big city as a common white collar with low salary.
The house price is surgingly rising.
we can not afford it even after work mang years.
how to face the problem ?
maybe we do not care it when we are young.
but how we do when we are old?

when old, just go back to country side

Consider buying outside the city where there is a regular bus/train service to and from the city.

I want a western guy

I like western guys because I feel them sexy ,gentle ,wise and have a sense of humor. usually they are more open than chinese guys. also mixed blood kidds are beautiful and smart. So I hope to love and be loved by such a guy. I am seeking. Even want to get married with one.
GIRLS, tell me why you like western guys.
I like western culture just like I like western guys. Huge fan of NBA.
it is not necessary to leave China to go other countries like USA, I love China no less than anyone else. And money is not concerned either. I am pretty sure I can make enough money I need.

You must lose confidence in marriage. Cheer up, it's an individual case.

It is none of your business. But I don't think it is a good place for working. Maybe some day you will change your mind on marriage or something else.

Flash Marriage Group

Flash Marriage Group , as its name indicates, refers to those who established the marital relationship in a faction of time, lacking of the necessary period of mutual understanding and trust. As for such group, the long romantic stage of marriage, such as meeting at first sight, falling in love, getting married, are completed in the very fast way. However, in the remote antiquity, it took long periods before young couple got married. Also, some person should serve as go-between or matchmaker to bring a natural acculmation to both parts. Therefore, the action of meeting with each other without matchmaker was the very behaviour people at that time abhored, and chances that they went to church were quite few. By contrast, flash marriage group advocates the concept of “marriage freedom” and leave behind what was a must in the past. what is your view concerning this very issue?

perhaps this very topic will arouse the topic of morality in china or some western countries.

i think i will not be a member of the flash marriage group, marrage is very important to everyone,so i will be careful.

Maybe I will try...I hope meeting at first sight

why westerners believe in God so

i met a lof of americans, white americans.they often talk about God, even every meal, they often say, "thanks, God , thank for giving us delicious food"even in science field in western countries, they divide the word into two parts, one is our reality world, in this world, they research and idscover the secrets of the objective world. but the other world, even some famous scholars and scientists assert that we can not see the truth, unless we have "God's view". they leave the unsolving prolblems to God.why, why?

I am going to guess I know more amerikans than you do considering I have lived there for 24 years and hung out pretty exclusively with amerikans in addition to being one.
Now in my total experience i would say I have been party to someone thanking god for a meal perhaps 10 times.

God holds no reverence in my home country nor do we worship more than average.
You clearly know nothing about the US or its people so I will be happy to educate you. Amerikans mention god more than chinese because they didnt have a cultural revolution to try and exterminate them. As opposed to China which is officially atheist the US gov refuses to comment on god holding that for people on their own to decide.

The US is less religious than many parts of the world, Thailand, SKorea, India, Greece, Italy, Mexico to name just a few.

The West is not only the U.S. or North America. It includes Europe as well. In vast parts of Europe r3l1g10n plays no - or an insignificant role. Europe had bad experience with r3l1g10n and many people only attend r3l1g1ous service once a year (X-mas) or never at all. There is also a difference between North and South. Scandinavia is far less r3l1g1ous than Austria, Italy, Hungary, Poland or Spain/Portugal. Last but not least, in NON Roman Catholic nations (Scandinavia, The Netherlands, the Northern half - and East of Germany), church does not interfere in people's life. This is of course different with the church of Rome (Vatican).

Those CR words

After the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the central government faced an economy in crisis and struggled to deal with mass unemployment among young urbanites.

From 1955 to 1962, these youngsters were encouraged to establish farms in remote towns to make use of the land. Then the government began to more formally organize the movement of young urbanites to the countryside.

During the "cultural revolution" (1966-76), university entrance exams and school classes were suspended. Vast numbers of school graduates and students could neither go to university nor get jobs.

On Dec 22, 1968, Chairman Mao Zedong summoned young people to countryside areas to "receive reeducation from the poor and lower-middle farmers".

The young people who moved to rural areas became known as zhiqing or the "educated youth".
In the following 10 years, an estimated 12-18 million youngsters were caught up in the zhiqing movement, known as "up to the mountains and down to the villages".
Zhiqing spent their youth across the frozen northeast borders, in the desolated deserts in Inner Mongolia, on the barren fields of the Loess Plateau in the northwest and the humid forests in Southwest China's Yunnan province.

Many problems came to light in the early 1970s and in 1977 the national university entrance exams were reinstated and many zhiqing began to leave the countryside.
Finally, in 1980, the central government decided to end the movement and allowed zhiqing to go back to the cities.

Zhiqing is a special generation in China, who was produed at that time in special system, who sacrificed his youth in countryside because they were full of great enthusiasm to go to countryside but results were so misery.
On other hand,Zhiqing is a belief generation in China, so they made more spiritual values for his afterworld.

Last month Seneca comrade discussed Zhiqing topic in another thread(40 history in China equals with 400 years in European), so many days passed,I wonder so many persons are focus on Zhiqing life.

At that time Chair Mao told them countryside is wide place, to accept poor and lower-middle peasants education is necessary

Barack Obama Presidential Victory Speech

Hello,Chicago!
If there is anyone out there
who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible
who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time
who still questions the power of our democracy
tonight is your answer
It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches
in numbers this nation has never seen
by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives
because they believed that this time must be different
that their voice could be that difference
It's the answer spoken by young and old
rich and poor,Democrat and Republican
black,white,Latino,Asian,Native American,gay,straight,disabled and not disabled
Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States:
we are,and always will be,the United States of America.
It's the answer that led those who have been told for so long
by so many to be cynical and fearful
and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history
and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day
It's been a long time coming
but tonight, because of what we did on this day
in this election,at this defining moment, change has come to America
I received a very gracious call from Senator McCain
Senator McCain fought long and hard in this campaign
and he's fought even longer and harder for the country he loves
He has endured sacrifices for America
that most of us cannot begin to imagine
we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader
I congratulate him
I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved
and I look forward to working with them
to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead
I want to thank my partner in this journey
a man who campaigned from his heart
and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton
and rode with on that train home to Delaware
the Vice President-elect of the United States,Joe Biden
I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support
of my best friend for the last sixteen years
the rock of our family and the love of my life
the nation's next First Lady,Michelle Obama
Sasha and Malia,I love you both more than you can imagine
and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House
And while she's no longer with us
I know my grandmother is watching
along with the family that made me who I am
I miss them tonight
and know that my debt to them is beyond measure
To my sister Maya,my sister Alma,
all my other brothers and sisters, thank you so much for all the support that you've given me.
I am grateful to them
To my campaign manager David Plouffe
the unsung hero of this campaign, who built the best -
the best political campaign,I think,in the history of the United States of America.
To my chief strategist David Axelrod
who's been a partner with me every step of the way
to the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics
you made this happen, and I am forever grateful
for what you've sacrificed to get it done
But above all,I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to
it belongs to you
it belongs to you
I was never the likeliest candidate for this office
We didn't start with much money or many endorsements
Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington
it began in the backyards of Des Moines
and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston
It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars
and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause
It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy
who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep
It drew strength from the not-so-young people
who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers
from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized
and proved that more than two centuries later,a government of the people
by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory
I know you didn't do this just to win an election
and I know you didn't do it for me
You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead
For even as we celebrate tonight
we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime -
two wars,a planet in peril
the worst financial crisis in a century
Even as we stand here tonight,we know there are brave Americans
waking up in the deserts of Iraq
and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us
There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder
how they'll make the mortgage
or pay their doctor's bills,or save enough for their child's college education
There is new energy to harness
and new jobs to be created, new schools to build
and threats to meet and alliances to repair
The road ahead will be long
Our climb will be steep
We may not get there in one year or even one term
but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there
I promise you - we as a people will get there
There will be setbacks and false starts
There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as President
and we know that government can't solve every problem
But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face
I will listen to you
especially when we disagree
And above all,I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation
the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years
block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand
What began twenty-one months ago
in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night
This victory alone is not the change we seek
it is only the chance for us to make that change
And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were
It cannot happen without you
without a new spirit of service,a new spirit of sacrifice
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism
of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in
and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other
Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything
it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers
in this country,we rise or fall as one nation,as one people
Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness
and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long
Let us remember that it was a man from this state
who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House
a party founded on the values of self-reliance,individual liberty, and national unity
Those are values we all share
and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight,
we do so with a measure of humility
and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress
As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours,
"We are not enemies,but friends...
though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. "
And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn
I may not have won your vote tonight
but I hear your voices
I need your help
and I will be your President too
And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores
from parliaments and palaces to those
who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world
our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared
and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand
To those who would tear this world down
we will defeat you
To those who seek peace and security - we support you
And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright
tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation
comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth
but from the enduring power of our ideals:
democracy,liberty,opportunity,and unyielding hope
that is the true genius of America
that America can change
Our union can be perfected
what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.
This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations.
But one that's on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta
She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election
except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.
She was born just a generation past slavery
a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky
when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons
because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin
And tonight,I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America
the heartache and the hope
the struggle and the progress
the times we were told that we can't
and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.
At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed
she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot
Yes we can
When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land
she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal
new jobs and a new sense of common purpose
Yes we can
When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world
she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness
and a democracy was saved
Yes we can
She was there for the buses in Montgomery
the hoses in Birmingham,a bridge in Selma
and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that "We Shall Overcome. "
Yes we can
A man touched down on the moon
a wall came down in Berlin
a world was connected by our own science and imagination
And this year
in this election
she touched her finger to a screen
and cast her vote
because after 106 years in America
through the best of times and the darkest of hours
she knows how America can change
Yes we can
America,we have come so far
We have seen so much
But there is so much more to do
So tonight,let us ask ourselves
if our children should live to see the next century
if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper
what change will they see?
What progress will we have made?
This is our chance to answer that call
This is our moment
This is our time - to put our people back to work
and open doors of opportunity for our kids
to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace
to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth -
out of many,we are one
that while we breathe,we hope
and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt,
and those who tell us that we can't
we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:
Yes We Can
Thank you,God bless you
and may God Bless the United States of America.

My Definition of Happiness

Follow the way your heart tells you

Do what you love and love what you do

Love the people who love you too

Love the world presented to you

The flame of love

Suppose you have everything; a good job, good health, good reputation, good relationships and lot of money to spend. But still there is something missing from your life. Guess what? The LOVE. It is not something which you should ignore. Life without love is just like body without soul. Love gives meaning to life as without love life is meaningless. Lucky is the person who gets love and keeps the flames of love burning for ever. It is not a matter of days or months. Love is for life and life is for love. Short term love encounters are not helpful at all. Be sincere with your body and soul. Indulge in serious life long loving relationship and live a healthy, happy and joyful life. It is easy to fell in love but difficult to keep the flames of love burning. Before indulging in serious long term love relationships be sure that the person you love is also sincere with you. A selfish person can make your life miserable. If this is the case with you then try to get rid of that person as soon as possible. Most people do not give importance to their love life as they give importance to their professional life. In most cases, people sacrifice their love life at the cost of their profession. This is a bad choice which ruins the whole life. A sensible balance between the two is necessary in order to enjoy life in its entirety. Do not deprive yourself of the love you need. People part their ways after living together for years and years. Though this looks strange but is the obvious result of ignoring the genuine complaints and grievances of the other. Sometimes a sincere apology, gentle touch, or a friendly kiss is enough to put your love life on track. However, when deep differences develop between the two then professional consultation is necessary. Do everything to bring back love to your life, if it is lost. In order to make the journey of life more exciting and enjoyable, you need a loving and caring person with whom you can share your values, dreams, fantasies, joys and jokes. In difficult times of anxiety, sorrow, distress or loss of near and dear ones this person should stand firm besides you and console you in every possible manner. Love your life and love the person who is in your life. Keep the flames of love burning to live a great, great love life. Discuss this article with your loved one and carefully listen what he/she says. This can give you a clue of his/her inner sentiments and the depth of love for you. Also avail this opportunity to renew your love life with a new passion and commitment.
